The Islamorada Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Fourth Annual Keys Holiday Festival on Dec. 5 from 4-10 p.m., and once again, one of the highlights, especially for the kids, will be about 20 tons of machine-made “snow.”

Some of the Switlik kids want President-elect Barack Obama to build more parks and lower taxes. One wants him to plant some purple flowers.

The Upper Keys Garden Club is hosting its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Francis Tracy Garden Center at mile marker 94, and club president Julie Mead said this year’s sale promises to be bigger than ever before.

A Rolling Stone Magazine top 10 band to watch in 2008 — Year Long Disaster — will kick off Islamorada Community Entertainment’s new season on Sunday, Nov. 23. with a free concert at the TIB Bank of the Keys Amphitheater in Islamorada Founders Park.

Former Grassy Key restaurateurs Stephanie Cheever and Steve Hathaway kept a Florida Keys theme for their new eatery in southern Michigan.
Michigan warms up to the Keys, or vice versa
They live mostly in Michigan now but Stephanie Cheever and Steve Hathaway go to work in the Keys every day. At least, a slice of the Keys the former owners of The Wreck and Galley Grille on Grassy Key carried with them back to their native state.
