The lobster mini-season came and went. Now it's the commercial fishermen's turn. Make sure you don't mess their trap lines -- those are the tools of their trade.
If you thought things were buggy last week, think again: Today is the start of the regular eight-month lobster season, and just about everyone and their relatives will head out on the water mainly because there are a little more than two days of it -- 237 days straight, to be exact.

Today's the opening of the eight-month recreational and commercial lobster season, and increasingly, it seems the season is starting to rival that of mini-season, which was last week, in terms of the number of boats on the water whose passengers are diving for bugs.

Snapper bite sure until full moon
It is both great and sad to have returned to South Florida. During our recent fishing and diving trip to the Philippines, we met some incredible people. While we have a great life here in the Keys and some really great friends, we also left behind some incredible people in the Philippines.

The Islamorada Fishing and Conservation Trust and the Islamorada Fishing Club presented the seventh annual “RedGhost Stalk,” an all-release backcountry fishing tournament on Monday — July 28 for Junior Anglers (ages 9-16) and Young Adults (ages 17-29).

Signs designed to catch anglers’ attentions
Melbourne residents Paul Marek and Bob Dietl were tossing lines baited with frozen shrimp into the current below the Channel 2 bridge at the southern end of Islamorada on Wednesday.
